Agents not only earn stock after selling their first home, there are several annual eXp Realty stock awards for certain achievements, including the opportunity to earn back their yearly commission cap in stock.
With the Sustainable Equity Plan (aka eXp Realty Stock Awards), eXp agents receive stock awards for accomplishing specific goals each year. You’ll earn EXPI stock shares when you:
Please note: These eXp Realty stock awards have a 3-year vesting period, but you can keep track of all your awards in Enterprise. Also, the agents you sponsor have to be with the brokerage at the time of vesting to qualify for the award.
Another way eXp Realty agents can become an owner in their brokerage is to participate in the eXp Stock Purchase Plan (aka “Agent Equity Program”). Agents receive a 10% discount on EXPI stock when they allow eXp to withhold 5% of the commission generated from the agent’s transaction.
With the Agent Stock Purchase Plan the stock is held by a company named Shareworks, where you can view and sell your stock purchases 24/7 with the eXp Enterprise tool.
This stock award is an amazing benefit to the top-producing agents at eXp! Agents who meet certain production levels and cultural requirements can receive up to $16,000 (their annual cap) back in the form of EXPI stock. If you meet one of the following production requirements during your anniversary year, you could qualify for the ICON Agent Award:

Achieve annual commission cap ($16K) + then sell another 20 homes during anniversary year ($5K capped transaction fees).
ICON agents in this option are typically high-volume producers. To qualify for ICON Agent, agents need to reach their annual cap and complete an additional 20 full transactions.
To break this down, $16,000 is paid into eXp Realty through the 80/20 commission split. Once an agent caps, they go to 100% commission split minus a $250 capped transaction fee. In order to achieve the $5,000 in capped transaction fees for the ICON award, you have to complete an additional 20 full transactions homes after capping (i.e. 20 sales x $250 = $5000).
For Team Leaders: If you are a team leader or receive referral fees on a regular basis, all of those partial sales will be included in your production qualifications.

This ICON award production requirement option is ideal for eXp agents who specialize in luxury real estate or live in areas where home prices are exceptionally higher than the national average. You can receive the ICON Agent award if you close an annual gross commission income of $500,000 or more, with a minimum of 10 closed transactions. If you meet the production goals, agents can also pay a one-time “ICON Qualification Fee” of $5,000 (less any capped transaction fees).
